Where have all the production guns gone?

I've read this. They can say 'Made in Italy' but it's actually the Chinese workers doing the sewing; one has to admit they do excellent work, but you can get the same stuff on Canal Street in NY City, just sayin'. Although I don't approve of counterfeit labelled goods.
Just like CARHARTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know what to tell you. I've had a number of them and not those problems. Name names. Did you contact the companies?
"a number of Them" and have I contacted the companies?

By "them" I assume you mean the Used guns?
By "companies" do you mean the manufacturers or the Seller of the used guns?
Clearly I would not contact the manufacturer as the item was sold 'used' by a third party.
Item #1; no I did not track down the seller from the gun show - I purchased "Used" knowing some work may be required, just turned out to be more then I expected.
For item #2; Yes, I returned to the 'antique gun' shop but got no where with them. I won't go into all the back-and-forth we exchanged.
Bottom line is; Buying 'Used' is always a 'Buyer Beware' venture.
I learned the hard way not to take Exterior looks and 'feels' for granted. Unless they allow you to Break It Down Completely before buying; walk away.
'Beware the mechanic that packs the transmission with sawdust '.

My experience with buying production guns New has been uneventful; satisfied with all I have purchased. However Pedersoli and even some India makes from Loyalist Arms cost more then $600.
Oh, but I have 'inherited' a couple 'used' and no problem there other then minor repairs - but 'inherited', the price was right 😉

Whatev. Did you not play wth them to see if they functioned? What about taking the lock off to look in there? I have old cva, navy arms, t/c, Dixie and pedersoli... I'm fine. Don't know what to tell you.

Trying not to be long winded over an event past; yes, I "played" with them, in the event of the muzzleloader I did take the lock off - I have looked at some where the seller refused to allow; I walk. I have looked at one where to lock came off then had issued putting it back and the seller cries "You broke it"; I walk. In the case of the one I purchased; I did not take off the Trigger or the Barrel; I purchased it, then found buyer's remorse, but it was doable, just cost more in the end then I wanted to spend or needed to spend - this was long time ago, I know more today.
In the case of the unmentionable; Yes, I played with it, I dropped the cylinder, all operated smooth. However I did not remove grips and disassemble whole trigger assembly....had I had tools, had the antique shop allowed, I may have noticed what I did not find until the leaf spring broke...then have to fight with the guy why it wont all go back together...old unmentionable are a bit more then just pulling the lock

I joined the NRA back in the 70's as a life member. I still belong but I don't send them money. I do send money to GOA who I think is more representative and more properly uses their funds I think. Competed in the US nationals for ten years in the 80.s and you had to be a member of the NRA. I went Distinguished in the DCM leg match in 88 using the M1A I still have. I like shooting with my BP club more than I ever did in the nationals. Easier, slower, less hassel, more fun for an old guy. Funny thing, I've paid more for a couple of my MZ guns than I did for a match conditioned M1A. Go figure.
Mush. 100% agree. NRA left for dead my old home State of NJ decades ago. GOA manages much better with $$$$$

I agree that most of the regular vendors of traditional muzzleloading firearms and accessories are out of stock for just about all rifles and kits. Just out of curiosity, I went to www.gunbroker.com and looked up "Muzzleloaders". They have many production guns for sale, most of which are used but some are "old new stock". They even have about 15 Lyman Great Plains Signature .50 caliber flint rifle kits for sale. Most of these kits are in the neighborhood of $675 to $710 dollars. Not cheap but more or less in line with everything else these days. It is interesting that these kits are all offered by vendors that do NOT specialize in muzzleloaders but rather mostly deal in modern firearms and accessories. I agree that purchasing something from one of these auction houses requires a lot of buyer-be-ware considerations. However, if nothing else, looking through their listing of muzzleloader items for sale can be entertaining to say the least. One vendor is offering a ten ounce can of Accurate Blackhorn 209 Muzzleloader Powder for the LOL price of $99.99. In addition to that, shipping is $18.00. Anyway, using a 70 grain load works out to be about $1.20 per shot paying those prices. You must be desperate if you are willing to pay that much. Good hunting!
