Interesting, and good to hear. Racism is everywhere and from every race and culture. I just want to avoid any particularly bad areas. In Miami, where I existed for a while, you could get killed because you went into the wrong neighborhood. Just as happens to other people and places, like the South, many people in Miami, and Miami itself, gets a bum wrap because of a few idiots. Granted, Miami is more overcrowded that a tuna can...

Anyway, I am leaning towards the Tennessee area, if I can find a teaching job there. I love Arizona, but at least in the TN area I can have plenty of events and be within a hard day's drive of my family in South Florida. I would have no other intention than to keep TN green, and TN.

Speaking of Scottish Clans; I was camping near Grandfather Mountain during the Highland Games last year but was too broke to attend ($50!!!). At camp a nice couple invited me to eat with them and we spent hours eating, drinking, playing instruments, and singing. REALLY nice folks!!!

Stick to the flatlands, and cities. Stay out of those cute little mtn communities with no amenities. Fires happen!

I've lived in south Georgia for a number of years and I think this area over to Alabamb are excellent trekking locations. Avoid the middle of the summer but spring and fall are glorious.

Hey, Big John - I live in Indian Orchard, a township of Springfield (western Mass). Can you let me know what you're refering to? I haven't been able to find any organized blackpowder events to visit or take part in. The closest I've come is the civil war reenactors at the Armory every summer. Also, I'd love to know if there are any get-togethers, for lack of a better phrase, where Sutlers can sell their wares - guns, clothes, acoutrements etc in either Mass or New England. Ya know, kinda like a "gun show" or rondy, only geared to the "teens eras" in our neck of the woods. Much Obliged!
