I've always wanted to build a .38 cal flint lock rifle for small game hunting. Does anyone know where I might obtain such a barrel? Thanks.

Ed Rayl is your man. I just order a 44' 38 caliber barrel from him. Deliver day is some time around April. He'll do them in just about any twist you want, mine is 1-66.

If it were me I would buy a Goodoien barrel. My boys have a matching pair of TN rifles (RH & LH) with this barrel & from the first time we shot them, both of them shot cutting shot cloverleaf groups at 25 yards. We load a .375 ball, .015 Oxjoke patch, Lehigh Lube, .35 grains of 3F Goex in them. These barrels have a lead cast slug poured into them & they are then hand lapped before they leave the shop, so no breakin period is required. They are Superbly accurate..... TOW used to sell them don't know if they still do or not.

Goodoien barrels are the best on the market. The only "problem" is that he doesn't swamp them. If you're looking for a straight barrel, spend the extra $40 and get a Goodoien. If you're looking for a swamped barrel, I still go with a Rayl. I took for granted you were looking for a swamped barrel before making my recomendation.
