I will be travelling from northeast Arkansas through Tennessee and into north Mississippi. Anyone know where I can buy real black powder in any of these areas?

No but Powder Inc. is in Clarksville Arkansas. I picked some up directly when traveling through the area a few years ago. I’d call ahead before doing a road trip though.

If you happen to go through Union City Tn. ck at Dixie Gun Works, they may have some. Depends on what brand your looking for. Schuetzen seems to be easy to find. I not wasting my funds on it as its not very good cept to put holes in targets. Its a low velocity powder

I don’t know where you got the idea Schutzen is not very good powder.
There are so many other variables involved in black powder shooting.
If you are not getting the velocity you want, just load a few grains more.

Well i must have stepped on your big toe, i am so sorry i did that. Running through a chrony its shown me couple hundred fps slower than Goex of same size powder. Thats where i got the idea from. As to my choice of powder i stand by my post. When i shoot the same load same ball same patch same rifle same flint same pan powder n same patch lube. Thats all i needed to not buy anymore of it. Why load more grs to get same velocity that another powder gets you that is higher ? Just putting that info out there your mileage may vary from mine

The reason I asked is that there are several comparison test results posted out there between the available powders. With equal volume measures, Swiss is always the highest velocity. Goex and Schutzen are pretty close to the same, with Goex slightly faster most of the time ( the spread can be from 20 fps to around 80 fps )
I have never heard of anyone getting the low velocities you are talking about with Schutzen. I like both Goex and Schutzen. Almost all that I have on hand is Schutzen now.
Slower velocity does not necessarily indicate a lesser quality product.
Consistency and amount of fouling does.

Another vote for Powder Inc., The Muzzleloader Shop ( they use to have 2 locations, don’t know if the still do), and Dixie Gun Works. I make road trips to The Muzzleloader Shop in N. Little Rock for my powder. Good place to do business.

Oh, and nothing wrong with Schuetzen.

Well you know this really not about me, just my short testing.of it. I just did not find it tickled my fancy. So i am not telling anyone not to try it. I said i was not going to buy n use it. I don't work for any of the powder Companies. I don't have a vested interest in them. So i am not going to post again on this Thread, you win n i could care less, have yourself a great day
