Why does dixie gun works advise using no 11 caps with the pietta 1858 nma?

They are suppossed to be 11's?

some caps just fit better than other caps. I recently had some nipples I had to replace on a NIB Pietta, as 3 of them were best suited to 11's and 3 were suited to 10's
The uniformity of Pietta nipples leaves something to be desired.

Yeah everything I heard and read was that No 10's were to be used. I just got a Pietta NMA and have been planning to do some experimenting with it. Didn't realize I may have a cap size issue. I do have both 11's and 10's. but if the nipples are different sizes, I will be dismayed.

I recently went and bought a set of replacements for my pietta.
The nipples are all uniform now and perfect 11's.
The nipples I removed were perfectly functional but I grew tired of having to use two differant caps for 1 pistol. So I have a back up set of mismatched nipples and a can of #10 caps that are just going to attract dust most likely.

On my Piettas (4 newer) CCI # 10s fit right out of one tin and not the next. So I got Treso's. # 10 Rem.s are perfect on them all. On an old Pietta '51 I always used #11s pinched a bit. I was using # 11s on one of my ROA's but switched to Tresso there too. The other ROA I bought is still in the mail so I'll have to see. My Duckfoot and 50 Trapper both use # 11s.
I've got lots of spare nipples and need a few backup tins of # 10 CCIs that fit to be happy. :grin:
