I can't speak to the other brands you asked about, but TC's current Flintlocks are excellent, with the Hawken and Renegade models being the most well established.
The Firestorm is a fairly recent entry...it uses the same latest style Flint lock assembly that the Hawken/Renegade use, however, the Firestorm is a modern hybrid with plastic stock, fiberoptic sights, etc...not sure what your interested in...all TC rifles have a real, lifetime warranty second to none.

None of these is a period correct style piece, but all are well suited to hunting and produced by good companies. You seem to be locked into using sabots, which is not something that I know much about, so you might want to ask about that aspect on one of the more modern focused forums. No disrespect, but most of us shoot patched round ball here.

What I do know is that for my money, I would go with T/C because they support their product so well. Loyalty should be rewarded with loyalty! They have also gotten the bugs out of their flint systems.

Welcome,

I own two T/C's (owned and sold two others in the past) and they are very well made and reliable firearms. The Renegade is a good, solid rifle. It's been around for 30 plus years and all the bugs are worked out. The Lymans are a little closer to authentic in styling, and have been around as long (at least the GPR has). The GPR has a better twist for round balls (1:66") and, for those reasons, would be what I'd go with now if was starting over.

Never even heard of RMC.

I had not heard of it either, so I googled it. Here is the link that I found:

1:28 twist, so it is a Sabot gun. Multi color laminated stock. Their version of the QLA barrel thingy. Removeable breech plug. Fiber Optic sights. If I hadn't seen the pictures, I would have sworn it had to be an inline, but this beastie has a rock lock hangin on the side!

Now for those of you that really like custom guns, their tag line is "Custom Quality at Production Price"

I'll throw in with Stumpkiller on this one.

I've owned both and my experience is that the GPR is more authentic and more consistently accurate than the Renegade, Hawkens and PA Hunter I have owned over the years.

If you've got a little extra cash, I recommend you replace the GPR factory barrel with a Green Mountain, put in a replacement touch hole liner and get the GPR frizzen hardened and you'll have about the best you'll get from a factory.
