Traditions recommends 2f for 30 and over barrels in my 50 cal. What are you shooting in the long barrel. From the owners manual for 32 cal they say 3f. Was trying to just use one powder for both.

Old rule of thumb was 1F for guns above 69, 2f for .50-69, 3f below .50.
Folks shoot 3 in their besses, and 2 in their pea shooters. You don’t see a lot of shooters doing 1 now and a few with 1 1/2.
You will find 3 in a small bore a little cleaner, and you will need about 10% more 2 to get the same velocity
Just try and see what you like best.

I have both a 42 inch Douglas barrel on my target rifle, and a standard Cherokee ( I don't know the exact length and it is in the gun cabinet so I can't measure it at the moment) barrel on the grandson's rifle. Both are 45 caliber and do well with FFF or FF. I use about 10% less FFF than FF. I save my FF for the shotgun.
