Being right handed, I prefer both my powder horn and bag to be on my right side so I may easily manipulate them with my right hand. So the opposite may prove true for you. But nothing beats experience, try it out and see what is most comfortable and practical.

It makes no difference which side, stacked or opposite sides of the body. I am a right handed shooter, but eat and write with my left hand. I am not an average RH shooter. Place the bag and horn on your body and do a dry loading procedure. The loading needs to be fluid and controlled to your comfort zone. Not everyone loads the same.

I could've sworn I had replied to this thread already...

I must have done something wrong and my post was removed. If I offended anyone, I apologize...Offence was not my intent.

I am a lefty shooting a right handed flintlock. Which side should I carry my possibles bag? Which side for the powder horn?
I'm also a lefty shooting RH. I prefer may bag on the left. I carry my horn on the right. It all comes down to what is most convenient for you.

Have read that a RH shooter should carry his horn on the left to reduce possible accidents. It seems to make sense, but by the time I heard this advice, I was set in my ways with pouch and horn on the right. So after 50 years is too late to change, to horn on left and pouch on right. But shooting a RH gun, left handed, it may not make any difference which side the horn is on to prevent the chance of accident? If you buy a LH gun, carrying the horn on right might make sense?

Bag on the right, horn on the left. No sparky anywhere around the horn.
Being I can use either hand for just about everything. I pour with my left hand, into a measurement device in my right hand. Horn down, rifle barrel in left hand, pour with right hand.

That is probably they way I will do it.

Are you shooting a right handed flintlock lefthanded or right handed? Assuming there isn't any cast off and the length of pull is adequate, you can do either.

I’m a right handed shooter and carry my bag & horn on the right. Seems the straps are out of the way worn this way. I am still refining my technique shooting from a bag/horn. I do like using ball blocks but don’t have to, it just speeds stuff up.

Good point, Johnny!! When I replied earlier, I was totally focused on function and left the safety factor out. Glad you mentioned this! One thing else for all horn users: Make sure the horn is totally sealed so as to not catch any sparks from either side of the shooter. Someone could even be shooting next to you with a wild touch hole.
