What do you guys think of the book White Devil? I just finished it and thought it was very good. He does a great job of putting the St. Francis Raid by the Rangers et.al. in perspective. He clearly sees Rogers as a hero, but does not try to excuse of hide his failings. Any thoughts?

I've read the book twice already. It is a great read and it flows very well. And for the HC crowd, all sources are well documented and most if not all are first hand.

I feel it's a must read for any Roger's Ranger fan or anybody who enjoys the F&I war period.

Stephen Brumwell is a very good historian. His previous book "Redcoats: The British Soldier and War in the Americas, 1755-1763" is another great resource for the F&I War reenactor/history buff.

I enjoyed Redcoats a lot more than White Devil. Still, White Devil is worthwhile reading.

I give it a big thumbs up. It was a quick read and very informative. F&I is not my time frame but I may have to to more research on it.

Andy
