I know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack, but I am putting this out there. I want to add to my two ML collection with a Whitworth for long range. My understanding in the English made versions are the best quality wise.

Be careful here. A few months ago, I received a response from a man who had a British Whitworth. I had been looking for a long time. He responded with pictures, and photo ID. Made the deal, and since then, no response despite numerous attempts to get a response. I have the info and email threads to prove it. He sent me a picture of the gun but showed my name and date, incorrectly. It seems the WANTED posts attract a lot strange folks. He has my money and the gun. Also have received a few responses that go something like this: "I have a friend in (name state) who may have what you are looking for, and here is his email"

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this man went silent once the payment was made.

@Frod733 I’m very sorry to hear a scammer may have gotten you. Hopefully you will recover your money or the rifle. Yea the wanted adds, seems to bring them out of the woodwork.

@Ryan Taylor I'm one of the strange old folks here on the forum, just read my posts, <G> but not a scammer. I believe there are more than a few fellows here on the forum that I've dealt with who would vouch for me.
If you are serious and would like to discuss an unfired early British Birmingham marked Parker Hale Whitworth rifle with the original style polygonal bore send me a private message. The Whitworth bullet molds would be available also.

Thanks,
O.R.

I've been interested in a Whitworth for a long time as well. Put me second in line OldRust.

That was one of the first things that happened to me when I joined. A guy said his friend in Texas had what I wanted and gave me an email address to reach him. I'd never run into that before. I contacted the guy in Texas, but he felt flaky as all he!!, so passed on it. That was right at the beginning of the heavy scammer attacks.

I had someone send me very convincing photo shop of a rifle on here. Look at the edges of the rifle. Of it looks wavy or broken its a shop.

Unfortunately by posting that you are looking for one will be the magnet for scammers. Best to keep an active search and do not post as a wanted item., eventually one will surface.

Forgot to add after someone sends you pictures ask for an additional picture of the gun with say a dime, car keys, fork or just anything to prove that the item is actually in their possession. Saved me from buying a "ghost gun":ghostly:that didn't exist from a scammer replying to my ad.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought @OldRust would appreciate this. My buddy and I finally got together after Army deployments and life. Here's a photo from last weekend and firing her for the first time. More shooting is to follow in a couple of weeks! This was with ~70gr of 3Fg of Shuetzen w/ Brett's aka Paper Cartridges patched round Whitworth projos shot @ 100 yards.
