Hello All

Does anyone offer a repro Davidson scope? I know someone makes the mounts for (gulp) around $400.00
What can other Whiitworth owners recommend to get
that period CW look?

Regards,Rob :hmm:

Hi nkvd, here is a link to the manufacturer of the scope mounts you might be looking for http://www.bearclawstradingpost.com/whitworth.html it also recommends a period "lookalike" modern made scope although I have not looked to see how close this is to an original pattern Davidson scope so let me know what you find and if you think it is suitable for your needs and how it performs in your view should you install one on your rifle. How long have you been shooting your Whitworth rifle, they are loads of fun aren't they? And what is it a Euroarms or Parker-Hale? Regards, Peter B.

Hey Thanks for the leads and mine is the Parker version but have not fired it yet, wanted to get the set up with the scope. As far as the ammo, who makes the cast lead bullets,I read the Dixie revies were not that favorable? I also read some use paper patched loads,I thought those were for breech loading rifles?

Regards,Rob

Paper patch bullets were (and still are) commonly used with long range small-bore rifles such as the Whitworth, Henry, Metford, Rigby, etc.

Hi nkvd, I think you have been correctly informed on the Dixie Whitworth bullets I have a Euroarms and a Parker-Hale Whitworth rifle and the box of Dixie Gun Works hexagonal Whitworth bullets I purchased did not fit either rifle at all and that is without a paper patch, actually, the bare projectiles were a good deal larger than the bore size on both rifles but that’s not to say that they don’t fit some of the rifles out there they just don’t happen to fit the two rifles I have, and also the castings were of an extremely poor quality, I hope this helps, Regards, Peter B.
