I love drawered chests. i have all drawers filled. and mounded. so i have to move a mound of junk to close a drawer, thereby accessing the drawer below. my bench top is stratified. usually at least 4 layers and many times 5 or 6 layers.
i am picking up a floor stand drill press tomorrow to replace the bench top i have worn out. i removed the bench top press this morning, this left a vacant spot on the bench. nature and slobs abhor a vacant space. it now has 3 welding helmets and a scattering of end mills covering that obscene vacant spot.

My bench got so bad that I gave it and the shop a complete cleaning and vowed to never let it get so bad again.

I got it looking like this;

And the shop;

I never let it get as bad as it was but it doesn't stay perfectly clean either, it is in the middle of the road phase now with a pick-up and put-up session every couple of weeks.
I had to buy a bigger milling machine, list sight if the other one…..

I rebuilt my reloading bench 11 years ago... Metallic cartridge side:

After clearing a little spot so I can actually load... Yes, drawers & cabinets are fully utilized, and I couldn't get any more powder inside that cabinet (old refrigerator) if I tried!

Not unlike work desks, a clean bench is a sign of a sick mind.

You obviously sought therapy and it brought you around to normality. 🤣

Here in Central Hellinois it is just getting warm enough to get back out in the garage workshop. Beverman2's post has given me the incentive. I need to do a bench clean up and find my derringer that is in the pile somewhere.

Two weeks ago this was a well organized work bench but after several gun projects and accessory projects it is total chaos.
I blame it on gremlins but I gaurentee they won't clean it up.😉
If I didn't work on the kitchen table all the time, it would look like that. Mama gets a "little" wound up if I leave it like that, even for a quick trip to the restroom!
