Who has a 1860 snubnose and what do you shoot out of the thing and at what distance.

Only close here!!! Mine was a '58 Remington that I got cheap from a local gun shop that had had a bunch of stuff ruined in a flood in Austin. The front half of the pistol's barrel had gotten wet and rusted inside and out! Out came the old saw and files and she ended up with about 2" of barrel. Used the rammer to load but left it off to shoot. Used all the FFg the chambers would take and still seat the ball. Front sight was and old piece of iron shaped to a half circle. Just a shot in the dark but dead-on at 40 feet. Named it "Mister Shorty" from the Marty Robbins song of the same name:

"The .44 spoke
it spat leaden smoke
& 17 inches of flame!"

Pretty close too! KERBOOM!!! Yee-hah!!
Keeps the skeeters away!!

I have a Pietta 1860 Army snubnose w/ a 2 1/2" barrel that my friend Chuck gave to me, so I have the option of long or short bbl. Needless to say, the long barrel has never been back on the gun. I've used .454 swaged balls and filled the chamber w/ powder to where the ball just sat down a little - 25-30 grains of FFFg. THe gun shoots a bit to the left, so I just aim at the far right of SASS style plates, and at 7-10 yds. I get that nice satisfying "ding," along with some real smoke and flame.

I have two 1860 snubnoses and a 1862 snubnose onthe way both cost 149.00.
