Armi Sport or Euro Arms?

i am thinking of getting a Zouave, and Zoli's are getting hard to find.

both Armi and Euro make variuose repro rifles, both have good and bad points for quality and replacement parts issues.

but "overall" who is the better company?

Santa clause brought me a 1861 euroarms because someone said they were most accurate,BUT it sure dont look like my origonal,talked to another guy said the armysport was better but I am disapointed in boath of them,Dont know about the zouave but would guess same rules apply,,chuck

Now I may be wrong, but I think Euroarms is an importer rather than a manufacturer. That being said, I have a Euroarms of America-marked Zouave repro. that I bought nine years ago (direct from EoA). On the reverse face of the hammer it is marked AZ which I have always assumed meant it was made by Antonio Zoli. Either way, it's a very nicely made rifle & shoots very accurately. The only 'modifications' I've made to it are 1. smooth/lighten trigger pull, 2. reprofile front sight, 3. change height of two of the rear sight leaves, & 4. bed the barrel to comply with MLAIC rules. Have not had any experience with Armi-Sport replicas, so cannot comment on those.

I have an ArmiSport 1842 musket and it is a fine gun. It is well fitted and a close representation of the real thing. Unlike many repros, it doesn't have a clubby stock and weigh a couple of pounds more than it should. It also is a fine shooter.

Just for the record, Euroarms of America is owned by Euroarms Italia S.r.l. located in Concesio, Italy.

Armi San Paolo S.r.l. changed its name to Euroarms Italia, S.r.l. in 2002 and continues to manufacture the arms they sell.

Zonie -- thanks so much for solving a mystery for me! My very accurate Enfield musketoon is an Armi San Paolo, made (of course) several years ago, and I never could figure what had happened to that now-disappeared outfit.

Just a thought: If you buy a Zouave,you might have difficulty selling it some day. Civil War reenactors cannot use this model,so your market of potential buyers will be limited. Better to get an 1853 three-band Enfield repo,or the M1861 Springfield one. The Armisport Enfield is considered to be a bit more correct for CW reenactors. I have both models made by Euroarms-they are solidly made (and MUCH heavier than my originals). I've live-fired the '61 Springfield, and I was pleasantly suprised by its accuracy.

To add to what Jeep 44 said I saw in Dixie's new cat that 2 perc Sharps (he same dang rifle) 1 was ok for use in this and that and the other asnt the front sight was a 1/8" back or forward. :shake: whatever. Fred :hatsoff:
