hi guys. i have a 41 cal flintlock smoothbore, but its got a short barrel, its not very well made, and i dont like flintlocks. but i do think its very cool that you can shoot so many different loads out of this thing. i would love to get a 50 or larger smoothbore percussion pistol. anybody make them, or kits, at a reasonable price? thanks!

Well what is a "reasonable price"? Traditions has a couple of kits for under 200 bucks but they are all rifled bores. Next up would be Middlesex Village Trading Co. They list several smoothbore pistols for about $350. Most are flintlocks but they do have a couple of percussions also.

CVA or one of the production companies used to make one in caplock 1990's with about a 9' barrel it looked pretty need and would shoot good if loaded hot,it was a .50 I think, I do not know if they are still made but might be found used on the various ML trade blankets and similar sites.

ok thanks guys. 350 would be about as high as i would want to go on it. i guess a percussion smoothbore isnt something everyone wants lol. i just think its cool cuz its the only legle way to have a shotgun-pistol, which makes a heck of a snake gun, which is very useful here in south louisiana.

Cheap and good is impossible in MLs. They require too much hand wodk to make. At least if put together right.
If you want a cheap gun them buy one.
If you want a good gun by one.
There is more to a good ML than its going "bang" on command.
A rifled pistol will shoot shot well enough for snakes especially if it has a rifle twist.
