One of my guides in South Africa was partial to a Greener 10 bore.... not sure about the loads he was using but it would kill on both ends. The recoil was immense.
The Greener that I mentioned from Newcastle was William Greener father of the famous gunmaker of the breech loading period William , Wellington Greener. The gun you mentioned was it Muzzle loader or Breech loader ?

The longer of these is an 1865 hayes pattern Enfield 3 band Medium rifle.
It was used in the NZ wars.
When the US was having its troubles.
NZ couldn't get Enfield rifles with demand from US at the time & were offered these instead.
Very accurate rifle for the time.
& not that shabby nowadays.
I shoot wild pigs & this year two deer have been taken with it.
.its got a very light trigger and I enjoy shooting with it.
Have a awesome day black powder fellows.

I don't see the Hayes pattern as some sort of secondry rifle. it was a perfectly good rifle .
