I saw this on the GOEX website:

" GOEX has over a 200 year history of black powder manufacturing in the United States and GOEX Powder, Inc. intends to be a good steward of this company’s history and tradition."

So on the comments of the danger of making BP. I also know people that won’t canned Deer meat. pressure canner is dangerous . Or run a wood stove dangerous. For some of us. self reliance is just our way Just make a small batch for best results. Like making biscuits

Exactly right. Some people are so afraid of dying they miss out on living.

If I die tomorrow, well, I had a good run.

I'm wondering if people who make powder now and who have the equipment will teach others or form local co-ops to help others make or learn to make there own.
Sharing knowledge is how we preserve it, so maybe that is a way for the future.

I have no plans to make any. But where does one get saltpeter cheap enough to make it worthwhile to try? The sources I see are expensive.

Amazon sell combos that includes the nitrate and sulfur in one package just need charcoal.

I see another forum has quite a bit of recent info on making black powder. Lots of info. "This is how we make the moonshine" sticks in my head. Wonder how many folks will take up craft powder making? The sources for sporting type powder could be re-arranged by homemade from what I'm seeing already.

Folks we can all Google or Bing or Yahoo or whatever to find info on how to make the stuff IF it's ever completely cut off, and we can Etsy, eBay or what have you to find the ingredients.

No need to go into details on this forum, eh?
