I’m trying to identify the maker of this left-handed flint F6935C48-27ED-40DD-9023-03EAB94140B4.jpegA4B18263-C628-40E7-BD6A-9F7C76E79A32.jpegED9B5BBD-A6FD-4F67-8339-39C5F9D6FA33.jpeglock. The only markings on the lock are on the inside. There is what appears to be a L and a letter S. As you can see, the L is slightly above the S. Any idea who made this?

It does look like a large Siler. LS could stand for left side? Bridal is marked with an L. I guess it is a 4 on the bridal..

Bud Siler sold his parts to a lot of people for assembly.
After calling a friend for verification, I was correct in saying Locks and Stuff, and it was run by Herman Stone. They were well done locks.
Some people(who shall remain nameless) just threw the lock kits together to get a rifle out the door.

Yes, it apparently is a Siler and maybe assembled from a kit by ??. I have a couple of large Silers assembled from kits by a couple of gun builders and they are great locks. The Siler is one of only a few locks commonly made in left hand and quite available.

Good to hear your voice. This lock was gummed up something fierce; it took a couple of hours to get it apart and cleaned up. It is now a pretty good lock with a slightly weak frizzen spring. But it sparks like the devil and shoots nice small groups at 50 yards. You inspired my need for a .45 for deer hunting and since I couldn't pry your under hammer away from you! Be well, Friend.

We need to test that lock along with mine; the sooner the better! And you stay well, too. :thumb:
