Just found out he died in July.
I had read the old west books by time life that had the book Trail Blazers and a chapter on L and C, and another on the Mountain Men.
Then I read Give yourHeart to the Hawks. It was the first MM or infact real frontier history I ever read

Give Your Heart to the Hawks is non-fiction; it is a narrative of portions of the western fur trade era. Some of his other books are fiction.

Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great writer, and a good guy to chat with over a cup of coffee.
