Deer hunting where I am here in the Adirondacks has been dismal due to how warm it is, but small game hunting is probably some of the best I can remember. Where I am there's never a lot of larger grey squirrels, I usually have to drive an hour or so south because all we have here usually are reds with the occasional grey and they're on the skinnier side. So I was very surprised to see an all black squirrel, the first I've ever seen on my property in the 15 years I've lived here. A quick shot at about 40 yards later and not only meat for the freezer, but I am keeping the tail for a wall display and the hide I am going to try and make a small pouch out of.

Hi David, I never saw a black squirrel in almost 80 years on Long Island in NY. But since I moved to NW Ct last spring More than 1/2 of the squirrels I see are black with the rest being grays, I also have a few chipmunks. He's a nice size and is larger than mine.
