I have no opinion of the "WOOD" one way or the other; however don't confuse the fruit bearing Pear Trees like Bartlett, Kieffer or Summercrisp with the "ornamental" Bradford Pear which is an import from Korea and China.

"Why are Bradford pear trees banned in some states?
Callery trees have invaded forests, roadsides, and open fields. In doing so, the Bradford pear invasive offspring crowd out native species while providing little food for invertebrates. This in turn reduces the number of caterpillars available for birds looking to feed their young. Average life of Bradford Pear is +/-20 years but most live less due to break or falling during storms"

I’ve told my neighbors and friends anytime a Bradford pear comes down, to let me know and I’ll come salvage
