Hi all, I've just finished my case. The box itself was made by a joiner from beech wood but the inside was crafted by me.

Greetings from Hungary: Dénes

Exceptional layout. :hatsoff:

Did you use a foam of some kind and cut out for all the various items, then covering with the material? Interested in how you did this and what materials you used.

BTW...I work with people from Budapest and Vac on a daily basis as my company has operations/mfg centers there. I've never been there personally, but hope to some day.

Thank you for everyone! Here are some photos mad e during the building.
Spikebuck, I used 3cm thick balsa tree plate - I couldn't cut the forms into a harder material because I dont have too sophisticated tools and experience. I covered the balsa plate with fiberboard because the softness of the balsa. Then I covered iit with cotton-velvet. ( yes, you should visit Budapest, many tourists say it's one of the most beautiful capitals  )

Hi Dino,
Nice European continental-style case. You did a nice job on the lining. Your choice of materials was excellent for that style. The case builder did pretty well too. I just wish he used traditional slotted screws, which would have looked historically correct. Cases are fun to build and historically correct ones are a challenge. Well done,

dave

That looks great! I like how well it is lined to fit the pieces. Beautiful

Thank you again! MSW, I bended the size cut line of velvet and glued it so it became thick enough.

Anyway if everything goes well I will get my new wheellock pistol in a month made by a local gunsmith. The pistol is rather a military style. What do you think is it authentic to make a similar case for it? I have never seen a wheellock pistol in a similar wooden case. So how could be stored a wheellock pistol cca. in the XVII. century?

Hi Dino,
A wheellock pistol would be carried in a leather bucket holster if anything. Some may have been transported in wicker basket-like or leather cases but most in a holster if anything. Wooden cases did not become popular until mid to late 18th century.
