I like it. I've been leaning strongly towards cherry. Mind sharing how you finished it?
sure, i stained it with LMF maple, then 2 coats of LMF nut brown, followed by 2 coats of chambers oil, then buffed back with 0000 steel wool, then 2 coats of an all-natural clear i use, then very lightly buffed, then waxed. the metal i done with super blue buffed back. the brass also got super blue,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I’ve always been a fan of cherry wood. The gun looks great. I have done the lye treatment and liked the results. I never did a gunstock in cherry but just various projects.

The way I understand the use of lye is that it simply accelerates the natural coloring of the wood as if it were exposed to sunlight over time.

This guy did some experiments and documented his results. A worthwhile article if you are interested.
