Woodsrunner kit arrived today, kind of.

The kit arrived today and I was very happy there was no obvious damage to the shipping box. However, on opening it I can't locate the lock, sideplate, screws, patchbox spring and screw, two ramrod tubes and pins, nosecap and screws, and trigger.
Can anyone tell me if these items ship separately?

The only thing glued to the inside of the box was the patchbox cover. There are no other signs of anything having been glued to the inside of the box.

Mine had all hardware except the patch box lid in a cardboard box glued to the box. The patchbox lid was wrapped in plastic foam and glued to the box by itself.

Sounds like the cardboard box is the missing ingredient. Did your shipping box have strapping tap wrapped around it as well as the screws holding it closed? I'm trying to figure out if it was opened during shipment and the parts removed.

Mine had only sheetrock screws holding on the top lid. There was no other wrapping around it. It seems highly unlikely that the accessories box would have been completely missed by Kibler's folks. Very strange. Any signs of torn glue or cardboard inside?

No signs that anything was glued to the box except the patchbox lid. No signs of a forced entry into the shipping box. All screws were in place holding the lid on. several bands of packing tape were wrapped around the shipping box. If someone opened the box in shipment, they took their time. Very strange.

When mine arrived everything was securely glued to the box. All of the foam padding, the box with the parts and even the box with the wood scraps. There was even a free copy of the NMLRA magazine with the instructions.

The plot thickens. Further examination of the shipping container has answered some questions. The panels on the bottom of the container were being held on by the strapping tape. The staples had been pulled through the fiberboard and the glue had pulled away some of the fiberboard when separated. Little doubt in my mind this container was tampered with during shipping.

Based on what I've been reading, and now experiencing, I was wondering if there isn't someone in a PA shipping depoe who has figured it out and is popping boxes when convenient.

Might be time for you Kibler guys to write a letter to Mr. Kibler asking if steel or woven plastic banding straps can be utilized to prevent theft.

Four straps per box.

Then you'll know straight away if someone cuts those bands.

It's starting to look like that shall become necessary. Sad state of affairs.

Going to have to start shipping them in a locked steel box that we can return the Kibler's... with the key mailed to us separately.

I sure hope Jim has a chance to build me a Colonial Pistol kit before he's driven completely insane... it'll certainly be less headache for him to ship the pistol kit. Lol

Very strange -- the box that contains the lock and hardware is a cardboard box about 4" wide by about 8" long and about 2-1/2" tall. It is glued to the bottom of the box with a hot glue gun. Look for an area on the bottom cover (brown hardboard) surface that has been damaged from that cardboard box being removed - it should be very obvious if it was removed during transport or if the cardboard box was left out by mistake.

Anything that is even slightly suspicious that might be a firearm is set aside for inspection. Thank Dejoy for this. Theft? Maybe, but the local post office employees are so nosy and in each other’s business that a theft would be reported quickly!

This is why I drove down to pick up my "quick ship" SMR this past Friday. I don't trust any of the shipping companies with firearms and large awkward to handle packages. It is a 3 1/2 hour drive from my house. I got to see some pretty country that was new to me and most importantly I got my package home intact and safe. The cost in gas was a wash with shipping costs and the peace of mind was priceless.

I have a Woodsrunner on order and I will go pick it up as well when it is ready.
