Haw. It ain't never gonna work with no wood flint.

He sure do know his way around a file and a chisel. Next time I find an unattended suitcase full of money from a drug deal gone bad I'm gonna give him a call. ;-)

Thanks guys. It's actually a New England fowler kit by Chambers that I put together. You have no idea how badly I wanted to have my way with some carving on the wood too!
I had built a couple of these before , and was always baffled by the sideplate. It always looked like it needed something, and I came up with this serpent idea...I think it was just what that sideplate needed.

Gee Thanks. I have been staying away from Mike's site to "try" and take my mind off of the Carolina Gun Mike is building for me. Now you got me looking at it again. :surrender:

I haven't been able to go to his sight in a week. Page won't load. :cursing:

The engraving is really nice. You certainly have a knack for scraping on metal.

Are you running a pop up blocker Ridge? I've found when people had a problem loading Geo/Yahoo pages, it's due to either a pop blocker program or a Java problem. If you are running a pop up blocker try turning it off when going to Mikes page.

I turned my pop up blocker off and still can't get the page to load. It's the only site on the 'net that I've found this problem with. I had been going there once a month or so just to look.

Can you see Roys? And mine?

:hmm: I really expected you wouldn't be able to see all three. All three were built using the same tools. I know a couple of years ago I had a problem and couldn't figure out why I couldn't see my own page until I went in and tried to edit something. I couldn't get the little java applet to load in order to that. So I purged java from this comp and downloaded an updated version, been fine since. Not sure it's your problem but it worked for me for some reason.

Hi guys, I have to say if that gun looks good on Mikes website, you ought to see it in person! I am the pruod owner of this fowler. Mike was great to work with and the gun came out just as I envisioned.Simple, plain lines and the engraving is like the cherry on the sundae. I thought the sideplate was pretty plain and asked Mike to dress it up, the design is perfect for the shape/form of the plate. Cannot recommend Mike enough, and by scrimping and saving the price was pretty reasonable.

I want one of them iron mounted Virginia Guns off Roy's site. .54 swamped. O how I want one for Christmas. Santa are you here? I have been a good boy. I promise to be good next year.

I can heartily second JMs post about Mike's skills as a gunbuilder. I've seen several of his guns in person and frankly he's a far better gunsmith than a photographer! The pictures simply don't do his work justice....no offense intended Mike...
