SOLD - Thanks for your interest.

Own one of Britain's first attempts at rifling!

British 1837 Brunswick Rifle

"In 1837 the decision was made to adopt the Brunswick system. The weapon was of . 704 caliber with a 33 1/16 inch browned barrel incorporating a hooked breech The . 704 caliber was chosen so that standard infantry musket balls could be used if necessary."

If you've never seen one of these - they made a ball that had a ring/belt like Saturn, and put a track on each side of the bore - the length of the barrel - in thoughts that it would stabilize the projectile... Well... The design wasn't used very long. LoL

This thing is in great shape. Patch door is a brass replacement - there are some neat repairs in the stock - the butt has a chip at the bottom - but other than that - it's pretty darn sweet.

Comes with the sword bayonet.

$800 $700 shipped and insured.

There is a small crack I found - might be more of a superficial flaking... Hard to tell.

Right in front of the trigger guard.

Just don't want any surprises for anyone.

Is this an original British Brunswick or one of the IMA Nepalese made ones?
No idea. Looking at the IMA ones, it looks just like theirs, so it could be one that was from Nepal. From what I read they were made from British parts and some locally sourced materials - utilized by the "old home guard". IMA wants $1300 for a complete example without the sword bayonet...

I bought it about 10 years ago on CMP forum as a "British Brunswick" - but who knows?
