The longer bullet at the top of the photo is from the RCBS 45-500 mold using with the original base plug at 1.4" length.
Using the Lyman #454613 base plug gives 1.04" length at 375 grains.

What's involved in switching the base plugs. The Lee molds seem to be riveted. Never had my hands on a Lyman with a base plug.

Hey longcruise.
The mold has a sliding bracket that you install for the RCBS factory plug, held in place by the two screws that hold the blocks on to the mold handles. To use the Lyman plug I just didn't install the sliding bracket when mounting the blocks on to the handles and that let the heads on the two screws hold the C ring of the Lyman plug while casting bullets. No material modifications were required.
