Weather broke and had an nice 60* day and took the opportunity to get out the Pietta 1851 I bought back in November. After a good cleaning I loaded up the cylinders with 20 grs. of Shutzen 3F, a lubed wad, and a Horanady .375" round ball. Fired 18 shots at 10 yards and printed a well centered group about 2" high; all shots landed within a three inch circle. Very pleased; trigger was light and crisp and recoil was almost non existent. No jams or cap issues other than one of the six TOW nipples had an undersize cone and the cap kept falling off. Going to call them in the morning . Can't believe I waited so long to get one of these fun little guns.

I just bought an 1851 Marshall and shot it yesterday. I too had a little issue with number 11 CCI caps falling off. Even with a pinch. I’ve been researching what nipples fit 11 caps the best because I have a bunch of them.

I gave up on CCI 11 caps years ago. the quality control seems to be nonexistent. I had found that caps in the same tin were not all the same size, some too tight and others too loose.
Since switching to RWS 1075 plus caps I haven't had any problems with cap fit on any of my guns.

I think you’re right. I used to use rws and had no problems. My local gun store wanted $43+ tax for a tin of 200, and 8 thought that was ridiculous, so I ordered the CCI. Wish I hadn’t now. I’ll just have to use them, and if they fall off I’ll just deal with it. I don’t shoot competitions.

My supplier brogue those in on some kind of a deal he can get them constantly. They are not cheap but as noted, the go on the Cone and stay there nicely.

I still have cap blow up and jams and into the works but that was always true, no pinching and they stay on. I can try different Cones if I get so inclined to see if those side cuts help or send the guns in to get modified.

I got a set from TOW (I believe the part number was PIR-LI) and the CCI #11 fits nice and snug and in my limited firing had zero cap jams or issues. Like you I have a good supply of CCI #11s.

I have zero issues with cci, I have about 6 or 7k. When I put them in the capper I see if the priming compound has fallen out. No
More than 1 or 2 out of 100. I have none of the problems others talk about. I also don't even shoot a gun before replacement nipples have been installed. I ordered them when I order a gun. It's not the caps fault your Italian nipples suck

And which nipples do you use?

Treso are my favorite, but I also have the totw and slixx. Totw work good on normal size revolvers. Treso has the smallest flash hole and therfore are the best for pocket guns. Keeps the hammer from blowing back. The slixx on pocket guns also tend the bust the caps like a flower pedal and therefore grab the frame on rotation. Not everytime but the holes are drilled any which
Direction. It just depends on the direction the relief holes are facing as to whether they will grab the frame. Again on full size pistols it's not as big as problem. Cocking the hammer vigorously tends to chew them up and keep moving. That's my experience.
