John Madison wrote a book about Fox and Grey Squirrels sponsored by Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation (Winchester) 1964.
It is an interesting read.

I'm amazed that someone could write over 100 pages on squirrels. BTW, if you look closely, his name is Madson with no "I". Searching for the book will be easier with the correct spelling.

ETA: Wow cool read from the time of my boyhood. Started reading after 4 and finished about 8:30. Re-learned a lot I forgot. A lot of his writing implied a larger population of fox squirrels back then than you see now. I rarely see them now compared to when I was a boy.

Interesting reports of those big migrations I used to hear about, but doubted - still kinda do. Poignant predictions of dying out of hunting traditions that have sadly come true.

I may look for a copy to keep on the shelf for reference.

You did real good. After reading this thread yesterday, I found one on Amazon and ordered it. It’s on its way. $25!!!

Never thought to check eBay
I didn't do much better Jim. I found one on a online used book store for 22 bucks. I couldn't find it on fleabay.
