I like the way these are looking, for me the problem isn't aesthetic so much as practical. During hunting season in my area there is a lot of temperature swings and humidity. The compound I'm using seems to be quickly degraded in cold, wet weather. Those wrinkles in the sides of the Tap o Cap style I've been making expose the compound to humidity and I believe have been hurting my reliability during wet weather.

Pat, without having them in hand and judging only by the photo, these caps seem too shallow to be attached to the nipples. Is it just me?
 
bpalbee Are you using a binder for your caps? Some of the binders we use could provide weatherproofing . I use a fast pistol powder (700X)in acetone. Many use Duco Cement. Some have used Finger nail polish thinned in acetone. These are good effective binders that really hold the prime together.

They attach fine. The photo is decieving. With the old cap photo of .014" thick metals shown earlier in this thread on a TC #11 nipple the length was 156". That is only .003" shorter than a RSW 1075 cap length. The last photo I show of the caps in the baggie were formed with .007" with the same dies, so that should easily have made the length even longer, but I didn't measure them for an exact number. This is not the final product.

I've been using the Duco diluted with acetone, but I have some tite-group laying around. Some early caps I made following the 22sharpshooter instructions and I think that binder was dextrose? It wasn't sufficient in my opinion, I didn't like the way the compound crumbled out of the caps when rattling around in the storage tin. There's a guy making Hazzard style cartridges on youtube (unless he got purged) and he was sealing them with nitrocellulose which might be same base as Duco?
 
Update

Wanted to send an update on the Capmaker Dies.

We had the largest forest fire in the USA this summer, the Park Fire come within 10 miles of my home and relatives homes and we were on constant alert this summer with numerous power outages to follow to my shop. This has put me behind in my work.

I’m back operating and in the shop and will be finishing the last tweeks to the Capmaker dies and will be shipping orders as soon as possible.

I apologize for the delays, but mother nature and an arsonist has won this battle. Thankfully, we’re all safe and nothing was lost as so many people lost their homes in this devastating fire caused by a drug addict, 2 times convicted felon who set his car on fire and sent it down in a ravine near Chico, California.

This is what’s happened with Democratic Rule and California Courts.
