Was thinking trying newspaper in the shotgun..

There's options..

Phone book.. newspaper. Printer paper. Paper shopping bags.

I'm just curious to try that. Seen a few videos. Posts. Topics. Etc.

I'm not sure how much. Fold it up like? Huh.. . I was thinking half the size of a dollar 💵.. fold it up stuff it down?

Is cotton paper an option or the same stuff more money.

I was thinking

Elmer's And water... a phone book.. then punch wads.

But then at that point.. it's nothing going on there.

I've used newsprint. Works just fine. Doesn't start any fires, either. Just rip and crumple. No need to punch. Easily spit-lubed if that's your thing.

I think shopping bag paper, though, is too thick and heavy for decent wadding.

OK I think I got a system to try?

That's going to work i think. I formed it with the ram rod head and barrel muzzle.

Not sure I follow adding Elmer’s glue to the equation? Why punch out wads almost as hard as a piece of plywood from glued up phone book pages? And I have to ask, where are you getting phone books? Haven’t seen one in at least 15 years around here?

Maybe punch out a card from whatever thin cardboard you have, but what advantage does Elmer’s gluing multiple pages together bring to the game? Just seems counterintuitive to what I’ve experienced shooting muzzleloaders since the 1970s, but always willing to to learn. Please explain.

Just to make it thicker paper... it's not going to do anything
Just more work going on to do the same thing as folding the paper up.

I could use a leather punch for the 10ga.. not sure what one or size.

There's allot of things to punch for os cards.

Google AI..

I could mix up Borax.. treat the paper with that.

I've found tow works best for me, too.
Me too. I’ve tried jute tow, flax tow, wasp nest, raw sheeps wool, wool scraps, punched wool wads, newspaper, brown paper bag, paper towel, cardboard, cotton cloth, leaves and grass. They all worked, some better than others. I’ve settled on jute tow.

Used my 20 gauge last weekend at an event. Patches were too tight so just used precut wool (?) wads. Three or four shots in realized they were dry wads. Finished with them anyway. Maybe not hc but are cheap to use. One over , one under ball.

I read in an old Lyman book where one guy used 2 squares of toilet over the powder and1 over the shot and said it worked as good as anything in his guns .But he also said he only used it when there was snow on the ground ,I give it try once and it worked fine but does smoulder .
