Too funny ... as my experience with Schuetzen powdah is exactly the opposite of what some above have posted; while it prints that same pretty much as Goex i found it to clean up in 1/2 to 2/3rds the effort and patches than Goe does. I don't bother with Swiss. But what do I know, as I only burn through 8 to a dozen or more pounds per year ...

Only 8 to 12 pounds a year I wish ,both my smoothbores well shoot 2f schuetzen but like 3f much much better .
 
For those stating it is dirty powder, what patch lube are you using? Is it even possible lube could cause “fouling” in the bore? I have listened to these same discrepancies in my club, Goex vs Schuetzen one is better than the other, but is it really??? Or does it go deeper than the powder…I cannot answer, I’ve had good luck with both, Mr Flintlock lube for me, not a paid endorsement either 😀

I have used FFFg Shutzen and Graff's in my GPR 54 PERCUSSION . It shoots fine,is accurate, and goes off reliably. I would buy it again. I am shooting a heavy charge of 110grs , .435 or .430 ball, pillow ticking patch,with TOW mink oil lube and standard #11 caps both Rem and CCI. This load does leave a lot of fouling but it comes out easily and there is no crud ring I can detect.

I bought it because it was reasonably priced and it meets all my needs.

I found Scheutzen to burn dirtier than Goex in a muzzle loader. I once bought some Scheutzen when Goex was unavailable. Was trying to do a load workup with the Moose Wilkinson bullet, which has very little lube carrying capability. Almost gave up on the bullet as it got crunchy to load after only 3 shots - no good for N-SSA competition.

Got back to Goex and found I could shoot the bullet indefinitely without issue.

Getting ready for the season I've been shootin my hunting 54 once to twice a week. Last session was 10-shots, 80-grns 3Fg Schuetzen, Tack's mink oil lube on red-striped pillow ticking. It is patched tight and I do use a short starter, but each loaded with the same effort.

To clean at the range, I wet swabbed the bore a few times w/ glass cleaner with vinegar in it, my homemade mix of 14-ounces GC to 2-ounces V. Then stuck in the toothpick and sprayed in a few squirts of the cleaner solution, then poured in a few inches of water. Let it sit, put my thumb over the muzzle, then tipped her upside-down, the rightside-up, the back upside-down again ... repeat tipping a few times and then poured it out. Rinsed it again the same way.

Pour out muzzle down, remove toothpick while still pointed down and blow hard through the THole. Using dry patches ... I've been amazed at how clean she is! All it took once home was a few oiled patches of your choice - done!

Honestly, I think I credit the mink oil lube ...
 
My limited experience with Schutzen 2F and 3F is that it was more dirty and smelly than both Goex and Swiss. It does group well enough so no concerns using it if that's all I can get. I have a couple pounds of it and will use it but of the three, it is my last choice in my small bores. Swiss is hotter and cleaner in my experiences and I have choreographed all three out of my .32 Cherokee.

It works for me since I ran out of Goex and Swiss. But I ain’t real particular about such things,,,
 
For me, I find it very similar to Goex. My load is the same for Goex or Schuetzen, POI changes slightly but not enough for ringing steel. Hunt with Goex since it's what I have most of and what guns sighted in for.

These comments are very relevant to me. I've been shooting Scheutzen 3f for quite a few years. For the past three years I've been using vegetable oil for lube. I'm mostly a wipe between shots guy and the fouling is very noticeable using the veg oil.

Last Saturday I shot with the soap and water lube and no wiping between shots. However, loading the wet lube is the equivalent of wiping between shots.

At the end of the day the bore was much cleaner and easier to clean than a veg oil shooting session.

So, I'm thinking that if your powder is shooting dirty, regardless of brand, the lube might be an important consideration.
 
I agree, Mike. I use neets foot oil for lube. Dirty, stinky, nasty mess after 10 rounds. But, it loads very nice and its accurate. I don't clean between shots. I may experiment more with lubes. I'm very limited hunting northern Michigan. It's never not below 32 degrees in December.

I should try the neatsfoot oil. Are you using the real McCoy or compound?

I get the 32 degrees. Grew up in the UP.
 
Just as good as goex and cheaper. I basically use WW fluid for patch lube. I shoot bench rest and off hand. My next case will likely be Schutzen agin. Flint and cap from 32 to 62 no problem.
 
I use 3f Schutzen/Grafs in everything from .36 to .62. With Moose Milk, I can shoot all day with bore condition remaining the same, and clean up is easy. I'm on my fifth case, so I must like it.
