The beeswax-based lubes are my first cleaning step; soapy hot water the second; Ballistol the third.

Water is all you need to clean. Oil to protect afterwards.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. The lubes are applied at the range immediately after shooting to keep the black powder residue soft.

The soapy water comes later at home.

That first step at the range before heading home really makes the rest of the cleaning process much easier and much less time critical.

I noticed that it's a funny subject.

I wonder if the topic was clear. But I don't mind the extra info.

I'm just going to swab out the barrels a little and keep it hunting.

I pour ambient temperature water down the barrel with the hole plugged with a toothpick and slosh all the crud out right on the spot. I follow that with a ball of wet flax tow and then one with 75/25 water/Ballistol. I wipe off the outside when I get home. Not rust in my bores.

I deicited to clean it... a good cleaning. I figure it's been a couple weeks why not.

I did use the microwave this time.. microwave hot. Lol

I dropped the nipples in a cup of water. It worked good.. windex cleans the same.. either or.. I use a pipe cleaner to get inside the nipple and nipple pick after I dry them.

Its still the same amount of patches..
One to clean. A couple to dry. One to relube.. 6 patches or so..

Just to maintain.. 4 or 6 lubed patches to pull out some foul.. It's clean enough to keep going.

A couple over think I had.. that was..

Would it affect the powder being in there loaded overtime... the bore lube.. that's a no.. it didn't affect the powder.

Will the nipple not being cleaned after use end up not working after a while.. it goes boom everytime.. I think the time it didn't it really it sounded like bad cap..

I only used a pick.. picked the nipples before I started hunting. that's all.

The right barrel saw the most use.. the left barrel was somtimes loaded a couple days Before fired.. it goes it fires.

Only 1 issue I have..

The cci number 11.. I like them.

But on one nipple they stuck on there you need some finger nail to pop it off.. it's good

The other nipple.. the cap like s to just falls off somtimes.. it doesn't stick on there tight..

There factory nipples.. dp10ga..
1/4 ×28...

Is there a certain brand for cci 11.. for a good fit..

Just pinch the cap a little

I use MAP and then a WD-40 Patch, dry patch then RIG. Every afternoon at the range. Done this since 1989. Never had a problem with after rust no matter how long. Flash rust bwahahahaha! every barrel I have blued has that for a few weeks with no problem. The shop has blued over 100,000 barrels that all have had. LMAO

What shop?

Not one I will mention as the owner is still alive, we blued for Thomson center when the burned, Green Mountain, who also made Midway, Sig USA And many others.

My back still aches from lifting barrels between tanks to blue. Thousands of pounds a week.
