Wife is up and healed from her hip replacement enough to be growling at me when i get too hovering so I just did some shop cleaning. got down through the multiple layers of stuff on half the back bench. found a couple locks i had forgotten about. Both full size. could have saved some mad money on the last parts I bought.
after I got bored with cleaning (first 20 seconds), I mean really bored (2 hours of cleaning) I laid out some grip panels for the 1858 Remington on a cut off from the inlet maple stock i am ignoring over there in the corner. the Remington was missing one when i got it. tried to lay it out so the stripes went longitudinally . figured they would be less likely to snap in half that way. might like it, might not.
It is for me so who cares!
never had had much use for the BP hand guns but I really have always liked the looks of the Remington.
also i find myself with 3 1847 walkers two of which are shooters. so now i have no excuse but to get them smoking.

Elk antler is ready for the artwork. Started shaping another cow horn.

Took my old .40 caliber flintlock to the range today for the first time in about a year. Wanted to check load/sights for turkey shoot we are having next Saturday. Shooting right on at 25 & 50 yards using 55 gr Swiss 3f, .400 ball, oiled felt overpowder wad and #40 cotton drill patch lubed with Ballistol/water. Upped powder to 65 gr and shot to point of aim at 75 & 100 yds. Looking forward to Saturday!
You know we like pictures …….

Same sight I got on mine ,nice buck your forgiven .👍
Overall, I love the peep site! The only complaint I have is the front site is exceptionally tall…. but the peep is as slow as it will go.
I’ve been so busy with work and trying to finish our house so we can get moved in my son Ethan was actually out hunting with his 70-year-old grandmother, my mother, when he shot it!!

Did some scouting for an upcoming deer and elk hunt. Nice country. Should be more game pushed in with more snow. Also will be tougher accessing!!
