    Straight Shooter!!

Wattsey: Good for you. I undertook the same project with an older Renegade early this year. I had the same results as you with the .54 ball barrel. TC says they make the barrels themselves. Doesn't really matter, I guess, because they do shoot. Like you, I redid the stock (Pecatonica) and...

In shopping for an 1858 Remington, I notice that the Cimmaron import is about a $100 more than the "standard" Uberti? What is the differance?

Dry firing and flinching / target panic

Tamara: As Acorn Mush says, get a 3/8 faucet washer. About 47 cents at Ace Hardware. Take the nipple in with you so you can get the right fit. You mentioned drills that you are doing....exactly what? Jim

    dry fire with dead caps

I have just started to train myself to shoot muzzleloading pistol. I do have many years of experience with conventional modern pistol and with muzzleloading rifle, but none with blackpowder pistol. I have Traditions Trapper. Ergonomics is a challenge compared to say a Glock or 1911. I...

Falling out f love with Ballistol

I really like the Dutch Schoultz dry patch method using 5 parts water and 1 part Ballistol as a patch lubricant. I had negative results using Ballistol as a rust preventative especially in the summer. Very humid here in the southeast. I switched back to plain old WD40 as a rust preventative...

    Tradition Trapper Nipple

I just picked up a Traditions Trapper pistol from Midsouth. The nipple shattered down one side on the first shot (primer only) to clear any oil from barrel. At this point, I am considering this a fluke probably due to a cracked nipple. Track lists two types of nipples: stainless and Ampco...

    round ball barrels

I concur with the Mad Professor. Just finished the third day of testing a 54 cal 1/66 Renegade barrel from the Thompson Center. It is more accurate than the Green Mountain ones I have used in the past. The finish is definitely superior. Jim

    Marble's Peep Sight

Has anyone tried a Marble Arms barrel mounted peep? i think it would work...hopefully without having to resort to a ramped front. Here is marble's website: www.marblearms.com

    peep sight question

I use the 57 peep with the steel post front that came on the GPR barrel. Works fine, as does a Williams fiber optic on another gun. Be advised that the dovetail on the front of the GPR barrels may be smaller than the standard 3/8's on most fiber optic fronts.

    Rate of Twist and conicals

What is the caliber and/make of your rifle? I recently tested some Hornady Pa. conicals in a 50 cal Lyman GPR ball twist barrel. They shot great! With 90 grs. of 777 they would all touch at 50 yds. With 100 grs. 777 they would open up to 2.5 inches at 50 yds. The conical weights 240 grs and...

    GPR restock question

Woodsman: Good for you. Try these people: http://www.longrifles-pr.com/index.shtml Pecatonica long rifle supply. Not sure if the copy/paste above is hyperlinked. They are great to deal with. I put one of their semi-inletted stocks on a Renegade a couple of years ago and am happy with it.
