54 Cal TC Renegade for Elk hunt

Ok I live in Pa. Whitetail is our game. I can tell ya I shot the largest buck of my life with an ole T/C Scout carbine in .54 and using a conical. This was the most unusual shot of my life also. I don't get to many long shots around here in the woods but this was different. I had a broke...

    First shot confidence

Good point. Actually I thought of that and while at Dixon's gun shop I asked about it. He said it shouldn't make much difference. I changed the nipple and headed to the range to make sure. I can't tell the difference. Now I was sighted in at 50 yards. Around here in Pa. most of your shots...

    First shot confidence

I decided to try musket caps. So far so good. Of course storing with the muzzle down. I really never had that much problem with first shot but I have had it happen. In fact with both rifles first shots of the season both didn't go off. Now that was at the range. I also forgot to store them...

    Unloading after the hunt

Yeah your right about cleaning anyway. Two things though. These are my reasons. The first, and the most important to me, is that I really don't want to make any more noise than possible when in the woods. Yes I realize it's the end of the day but if I can do anything to leave as quietly as I...

    Unloading after the hunt

I like the idea of haveing one in the field just in case but I really wasn't to happy with the one I have. I would just go out and get another one but they ain't cheap. Especially for what I want it for. Anyway went to Harbour Freight and picked up some different stuff to try to blow the...

    Unloading after the hunt

halftail Which discharger did you buy? I bought mine to use in the field just in case of a problem while out. Mine always leaked. I would get another one if I thought it would not leak and work.

    Unloading after the hunt

Ok thanks guys. Never thought of a rubber tip for the air gun. I "can" just pull the ball and take it outside a touch er off but I don't want to have to do that all the time. I would rather not discharge at the end of the hunt but I have done that for years. I may still do it. I bought one...

    Unloading after the hunt

Ok I tried to blow the charge out of the rifle this evening and it wouldn't budge. I finaly had to use the ball puller. This is a .50cal WMC using patch round ball and a musket nipple. What are you using to get a tight fit on the nipple to use the compressor to blow the charge out? I tried a...

hobbles I'll give it a try tomorrow and see what happens. The trigger is over 8 pound pull. The set trigger is well over that. It actually hurts my finger to try to set it.

    .32 bore light

Went to WM this afternoon and can't find a darn thing. I found some lighted bobbers but the things are way to big to put in the barrel. I know I can take them apart and us them that way but they are to big. Does anyone have a pict of these things. Sure would be nice to have a bore light for...

    T/C set trigger adjustment

hey your both right. Without the set trigger that pull on the trigger is over 8lbs. The set trigger is real heavy also. Once the set trigger is set it's a nice pull on the trigger. I hope you underestand what I am saying.
