Semolina filler in a single shot pistol?

I have a flask spout that I filed down to throw an approximate 22.5 grain load of Pyrodex P that I use for my '58 Remy revolver. I think I will start with that load, but I also want to try an 18 grain load, and a 20 to see how it shoots. Pedersoli has a chart of recommended loads where they...

Semolina filler in a single shot pistol?

All right. I couldn't take it any more. I just got off the phone with Richard at Flintlocks, Etc. and ordered a Le Page .44 and ordered 500 .433 balls and .010 patches from Track of the Wolf. Thank you all for your advice.

Semolina filler in a single shot pistol?

I've been using a .490 ball with a .015 patch in my William Parker and sometimes it is difficult to load. I am not sure what the depth of the rifling is on the gun, and I have not experimented with other ball/patch sizes but this combination does shoot well. With 50 cal. though you are kind of...

Semolina filler in a single shot pistol?

Is that a rule of thumb that the rifling depth should match the patch thickness? I am actually considering getting the gun in .44. Pedersoli recommends a .435 ball, so I guess that would match with a .010 patch. Makes sense to me.

Semolina filler in a single shot pistol?

I was reading a page on the Pedersoli website about the Le Page pistol and they quote Stefano Caruso, the Italian shooter who won the gold medal in the Kuchenreuter discipline shooting a Le Page in .36. He states "I usually load 10.8 grains (0,7 g approximately) of Swiss powder N. 1 and round...

Same Nipple Size Umberti and Pieta?

Your Uberti Colt should take the same size as my Uberti Remy - M5.5 x .9. Try here http://www.possibleshop.com/s-s-nipples-cb.html

Same Nipple Size Umberti and Pieta?

I received my new Pietta (44 cal. Rem) and also bought a new Umberti (36 cal. Rem). Here's how things worked out. As stated the M5.5 X .9 fit the Umberti perfectly. They will also work in the Pietta, but the fit is a little loose and you can feel it as you screw them it, but they will tighten...

    cylinder base pin lube

Has anyone tried shooting with something called Super Lube? It is synthetic with PTFE. I have some sitting around my house and I thought I might try it in place of Bore Butter.

    Chamfer Cylinder

I wanted to chamfer the chambers so that the ball would not cut a ring when loaded, but instead swage. I have read other threads where people say this makes for a tighter fit in the chamber (virtually eliminating chain fire possibility) and helps to increase accuracy. Now that I am thinking...

    Chamfer Cylinder

I just got my new Pietta 58 Remmie today and will shoot it tomorrow. I'm thinking about chamfering the chambers on the cylinder. Want to keep this simple. Any advice/thoughts?

Same Nipple Size Umberti and Pieta?

According to Jamey at DGW who I spoke to when I purchased the Pietta, and the Possible Shop website, the M6 X .75mm size is what the newer Pietta's take.

Same Nipple Size Umberti and Pieta?

AZbpBurner - I do not doubt you for one minute that they work. I will have my new Pietta on Tuesday and I'll get a chance to see for myself. When I ordered the new gun, based on what GoodCheer said earlier in this thread I ordered a set of AMPCO 6mm X .75 nipples to go with the new gun. If...

Same Nipple Size Umberti and Pieta?

I can't say that I understand the world of nipples too well which is why I am asking the question, but - isn't there is difference in thread size between the two. How can the "Uberti" size threads fit in your "Pietta" cylinder? Do they feel correct when you thread them? Is the difference in...

    Conicals

Do you think Hornady 50 cal. sabot bullets would work? I have some XTP 44-240 HP's. Obviously you would remove the plastic sabot before use.

Same Nipple Size Umberti and Pieta?

I bought a set of Treso nipples (M5.5x.9) which worked great on an Umberti 1858 New Army Remington. I no longer have the gun and am considering getting a new Pieta of the same model. Will those nipples fit that gun also?

    1st single shot percussion pistol?

I recently purchased a Traditions William Parker 50 cal. pistol. It is my first single shot. I was absolutely floored when I took it out of the box as to how beautiful it was. I think an excellent value. I originally wanted a Pedersoli Le Page, but did not want to spend $900+. For less than...

    Treso Nipples and Pyrodex

I ordered some Treso Ampco nipples which should arrive any day now for my 58 Remmie . I have been shooting Pyrodex and was wondering if good old BP might not be better to use with these nipples. From what I understand the Treso's have a smaller hole down the center for spark and wonder if this...

    Rear sight on my 1858

How do you do that? Is it something you just add to the existing front sight? Can you buy it somewhere?

    Traditions William Parker 50 cal.

Thanks Zonie - I read both threads and I am encouraged that the Parker will be a good shooter. I though about getting the Le Page but didn't want to spring for the dough. From the target one person posted I look forward to the accuracy that I am looking for. Just need to experiment with some...
