    The "OFF HAND" underhammer

It does have the tapped hole for the peep sight. Now if I could find one it would suite these old eyes just fine. I can see no sign of the gun ever having a wood forarm. No pin holes or any sign of one being mounted. The rifle's size is the very same as the Buggy Rifle with the name of the...

    The "OFF HAND" underhammer

The brown truck came today and left me a very nice Hopkins & Allen .36 caliber underhammer rifle. The gun has a 20-inch barrel and a nice walnut stock. The packing job was great as was the service from Joe & Suzi of THE GUN WORKS MUZZLELOADING EMPORIUM. If my memory is correct this is the...

    24-lb flintlock id?

I have a bench rest 24-lb .45 caliber flintlock that I would like to learn more about. The barrel is 41-inches long and 1.44 between flats. On the barrel is the name H.D. Binkley. I can find no name or markings on the lock. It has a nice hunting scene of a young man and two dogs. The butt...

Saturday was good here in the Ozarks

Thanks for all of the good input. I searched through some old reloading supplies I had stored away and found some 12 gauge wads. The hard paper wad measures .735dia and .215 thick. The fiber wad measures .760dia and .380 thick. The barrel(s)measure .725id. All measurements are as close as I...

Saturday was good here in the Ozarks

A friend and I went to the Tulsa gun show yesterday and it was one of the rare times that I wasn't searching for any special item. Being back into muzzleloading I did keep an eye out for any interesting front loader. Did see a number of nice used T/C cap lock guns most all in good shape for...

    Dimple fly better?

I know that dimple golf balls fly with less drag than a smooth round ball and travel much farther. I believe that a lead round ball with dimples would act in the same manner. How hard would it be to make a mold for this type of ball? What do you think?

    small calliber?

Here's a nice 15 pound .22 underhammer bench gun. http://www.thegunworks.com/custprodgun.cfm?ProductID=2248&do=detail&Cat2Option=yes Might be a little heavy for taking to the woods.

    Nipple blowout

I've had a number of H&A underhammer rifles in 45 caliber and my most accurate load was about 80gns of 3f which would move the hammer to the safety position and clear the nipple of the used cap. Always made sure the nipple was in tight and never had a problem.

    great service at the wolf

Don't over look their custom guns. I've purchased a very nice left hand flintlock rifle, which has fired every time as it should. A target cap lock rifle and a super nice target underhammer rifle. They give you time to return a gun if for any reason you don't like it. All you are out is the...

    Pedersoli Waddlander or Bristlen ?

They are both very nice heavy rifles. The Petersoli Bristlen is 44 caliber and rifled for conical bullets only. The Waadtlander is 45 caliber and rifled for the round ball. I have a Waadtlander that i've yet to shoot and several years ago I had the Bristlen. At that time I was set up to cast...

Just as soon as I get a couple of things squared away I'll take some photos of the Pepperbox and share them here. Being retired doesn't mean unlimitted time to play. ha

    Ethan Allen Pepperbox

I've got a Ethan Allen Pepperbox, a six barrel six shooter, that I would like to know about when it was made. It came to me in a wood box with 36 caliber balls, wonder wads, wonder patches, nipple wrench, and ram rod. The gun has never been loaded or fired. The bluing on the barrels, hammer...

    Jackie Brown .40 lefty

I purchased a Jackie Brown .40 caliber left hand rifle from an ad on the forum and just now got to try it out. First thing I did was clean out some of the stickiest yellow gunk I've ever seen from the barrel and lock. Hornady .395 round ball and about 50g of 3f seems to shoot just fine...

    Muzzleloading loading stand

Yes it goes at 32lbs....not a hunting gun and almost too much gun for old men..ha The barrel is about 45-inches long so I had to make a loading rod and an extra long cleaning rod as well. It's ready to shoot...just building up energy and waiting until I'm in the mood. I can remember back to...
