    group size

For those who were kind enough to answer my questions (with more questions) because I did not supply enough info. My Renegade .54 has a 27" barrel. I was using a .530 RB and a .018 pillow tick patch. This is a very "tight" fit on my barrel. I was using Bore Butter for a lube. Only used a small...

    group size

Just got back from the range with my TC Renegade .54 At 50 yds shooting at a 4" bull, my group is about 3 1/2". I will use this primarily for deer hunting but is there a way to get smaller groups? I was using 70 gr. of FFG, CCI #11 mag caps and a patched round ball. Should I be doing better...

    site adjustment problem

I shoot a .54 Renegade. I have a T/C hunter type peep on the tang. I have replaced the front site with the floresant type T/C bead that is sold on ebay. The front site appears to be the same heigth as the T/C bead that came with the rifle. I need this type of bead because of my eye problems. My...

    scalding barrel

In the LMF directions, they say if I want to blue a barrel that I must scald it at some point. How long do I leave my barrel and parts in the hot water? Thanks for any replies.

    LMF question

    I will be browning 2 T/C .45's 1 T/C .50 I need to blue a Stevens 44 and a Remington rolling block in a 38-55. Please reply.

    LMF question

In the LMF directions, they speak only of bluing and browning barrels. How do you fellows handle all of the small parts-triggers, hammers, sites and etc. Do I need a small parts basket? Can these parts just be placed in the bottom of the rinse tank? Or, can I just put them all in a sock and...

    LMF browning question

When using LMF for browning, I know I need to plug the bore, but what about screw holes like the ones that hold the rib on the Hawken barrel?

It's time to load the shooting box !

I have several questions. In a past post someone said that you could use un-salted Crisco as a lube. Will the cheaper Wally-World brand work as well? What about olive oil? I have also read that some use Windex to wipe down the bore. Is this good or is there a better product out there? Also...

    STORING POWDER

Those "old metal" powder cans fit just great in a .50 metal military ammo can. It has a waterproof seal and quite a hefty latch mechanisim to keep small hands out. Stores about 6 1# cans.

    T/C hammer problems

The tumbler shaft is tight. The hammer appears to rock because it seems it will not go onto the shaft as far as it should. If you shoulder the rifle, the hammer appears to lean to the left. There is a "washer" built into the underside of the hammer and it does not appear to contact the...

    T/C hammer problems

Anyone else have this problem? The hammer on my TC Renegade does not seem to fit properly on the lock. It somewhat "rocks" even after the hammer screw it tight. I have noticed that the sq. hole in the hammer is not filled flush with the square stud in the lock when everything is together. I...

    Thompson Center factory repairs ?

It will probably be back to you in a short time. I sent a set of Hawken triggers to be repaired and they told me it would also be six weeks. I rec'd it back in about 2 weeks. In fact, they sent me a postcard stating that they had rec'd my triggers...........and they were already returned to me...

    black powder can spout

Where, other than Cains, can I buy the metal or plastic can spouts used to powder from the "old fashion metal" cans directly into the powder measure? Thanks

    Making my own balls

I have always bought my round balls but was going to cast some this spring. I always thought that muzzleloader round balls and mini balls had to be cast from pure lead. Are wheel weights okay to use? I didn't think that they were soft enough.

    Hawken barrel fit

I recently purchased an extra barrel for my TC Hawken. When I put this barrel in the stock, it seems that it takes alot of downward pressure to get it far enough to put the pin in. I know that some resistance is normal but this is enough that I'm afraid of the stock cracking. Is there a point...

    barrel mark

I have a T/C .50 Hawken barrel that has a "diamond" stamped on the bottom flat. What does that signify? Are there other stamps that signify something else? Thanks.

    browning chemicals--favorites?

Want to brown some barrels. I've read the forums and have decided that Danglers is the right one for me. Where can I puchase this product? Is there another product that is better and just as easy to apply? Thanks

    cracked stock

I am in the process of re-doing a T/C Hawken "basket case". Just finished the stocked with about 20 coats of finish. I assembled the rifle to admire my work when I noticed a small hairline crack in the stock. The crack is about an inch long opposite the nipple area. It is on the side of the...

    Repairs to a T/C Renegade

T/C charges $85 to put in a new breech plug. Corrosion is not covered by their warranty. Shipping will be $12 each way. That's a total of $109 and you don't know if the barrel is any good. I'd look on ebay for a new barrel.

    corrosion by breech

The breech and drum only have cosmetic corrosion. It's the nipple that seems a little loose. How do I contact Log Cabin for oversized nipples?
