    wood patch boxes

Although a metal patchbox would be alot easier, I don't know if it would look right on a smoothbore barn gun. I could be wrong. The banana shaped patch boxes look good to my eye.

    wood patch boxes

I've seen grease holes that look to be about 2"in dia. Was wondering how you kept grit and sand from sticking to the grease and then getting into your barrel. I know I've seen a couple of kentucky barn guns on Early Rustic Arms that had patch boxes. That's why I was considering them. Bill

    Barrel lugs

I've got an oct to round smoothbore. The lug at the octogonal is already staked. I need to solder the two for the barrel. It seems a waste to buy a torch for two lugs. Would I use the same type of torch as for sweating pipes? I could probably get my hands on one of those. Thanx for the...

    RANGE REPORT: .50cal rubber balls

I bet they would be great for squirrels and maybe rabbit in a pinch. The impact alone at least stunning them enough to harvest. Sort of like barking a squirrel. Opinions?

    barn gun barrels

I'm caught between the simplicity of the barn gun and the elegance of the early fusil de chaise. I can only afford one project right now and would like something that does almost everything well. I know it's subjective and these types of discussions usually fuel heated debates. So I'll sit back...

    barn gun barrels

I was wondering, which would you think was a better all around gun,the barn gun , the tulle or early english trade gun. I don't think any one of them did everything well. But what would be the best all around or at least the best compromise.

    barn gun barrels

I'm leaning for smoothbore. I want something to use on deer in shotgun only territory as well as turkey and maybe pheasant. A 20 guage is the smallest allowed in NJ for turkey. As for time period early 1700.

    barn gun barrels

I'm considering a barn gun and wondered which barrel would be best. A 36" or 42". What would the difference be ballistically, esthetically, etc. I would appreciate the opinions and advice of the experienced on this forum. Thanx in advance.

    Barn gun

Got an itch to build a smoothbore. Have considered a Sitting Fox barn gun. It's low price and simplicity seem to make it an ideal first time project. Any thoughts?
