    Dry Ball

They don't work with my bullet pusher. I found a supplier on E-Bay and bought like 25 of them (14 gram) so I'm set for quite a while. Thanks for the thought. BTW: I tried the air compressor thing. I had the nipple out and the rifle set in the vice (150 psi). The bullet came out with enough...

    Caps Sticking

The only time I have had problems with nipples is when they have been used A LOT. Those tend to be mushroomed and won't let you put a cap on them.

    Dry Ball

I saw one of the CO2 bullet pushers when I was first learning about black powders and bought one. Then I ran out of CO2 canisters. So I bought some from the local store. Later I found out that the local store only carries 12 Gram cylinders and the tool only accepts 14 gram cylinders. There's...

    CO2 Cartridges

I was having a hard time locating them online until my wife suggested I try eBay (evilbay?). I found them right off. I ended up buying a small box of them.

    supplies

So I turned on the "Google Foo" as my wife calls it and put in "Greensboro, nc black powder" (without the ""). The first link returned was Gander Mountain (http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/storelocator.cgi?r=storeDetails&storeID=336). Give them a call. I saw Hornady round ball (50 cal)...

    Load help

From my experience.... I teach quite a few kids (Boy Scout Camp) and we generally use 50 grains of FF Triple 7 for the kids and first time shooters (using round ball). For more "experienced" shooters we've been known to run up to 100 grains.

    WD/40

WD-40 is useful stuff and it WILL make your fan belt quiet (and the one in the drier) but I was always told it will make the belts disintegrate. Go buy a can of "belt dressing" from the auto store. It's made for this. Now to go try it on the adhesive someone left on that old tool box...

    HC vs Hornady

okay, I give. Why would your dentist have lead? Much less why would he give it away?

    Hello from Oklahoma

Well originally I was having problems but as the day progressed....

    Another lucky deer.

We were using 50 grains of FF triple 7. I've found at these shoots that it burns the cleanest of the powders. We don't usually have to clean the guns until the end of the day. The last time we had something else (I want to say it was pyrodex but don't remember) we ended up running a cleaning...

    Badger Fur Flap...

I kind of like the ring tail flap. It might not be as much fun if it got in the way all the time but if someone wanted it for decoration it would definitely start a conversation.

Hello from Oklahoma (Home of the Red Man)

    What part of Oklahoma?

    Another lucky deer.

At our last scout shoot we had problems with like this with one of the rifles. It was a T/C and about every 6-7 shots it would pull the no-fire routine. It worked just fine if we pulled the nipple and dropped some powder in. We finally figured out that the guy loading the ML was NOT slapping...

Need Help Finding Pistol Range Rod and Stand

I'm just cheap and needed several short starters for my C&B rifles (I also needed one for cleaning the pistol) so I went to the big box store (Home Depot) and bought some aluminum 3/8 rod. I drilled and tapped the end 10-32 cut to length and epoxied a wooden ball on the end (drill a 3/8" hole...

    Getting started

I am also a BSA Black Powder rifle instructor. For Boy Scouts (as apposed to venture crew) you have to use Cap & Ball. In fact the rifle merit badge talks about flintlock, matchlock, and wheel locks but the boys may only fire Cap & Ball.

    Hello from Oklahoma

I was at an event last weekend (Saturday). There were 260 kids and we shot approximately 750 rounds of 50 cal round ball. It was a blast (pun intended).

    Hello from Oklahoma

Hi, I actually found your forum a couple weeks ago. I'm a BSA merit badge counselor for the rifle (and/or black powder) merit badge. We were having an event near lake Tenkiller and I was looking for some information. I found part of my answers in your public areas. So thanks already. I've...
