    farthest kill

    the farthest I have shot one with a traditional muzzleloader is 25 yds.The roundball went in through the last rib and ended up behind the shoulder on the other side.Send email address and I will send pics. of blood trail.

    I have used hot water and soap and some store bought stuff.It always seems that after a day or 2 I get a little rust looks like it is in the corner of the rifling.I have been oiling after cleaning with hoppes 9 oil.

    I'm not worried about internal rust just around the bolster but thought the parts would have to be taken apart to reblue I may be wrong.The inside of the bore is shiny all the way to the bottom.

    Got my first this morning at about 7:45.It was a small cull buck that I had seen before.He gave me a quartering away shot and I accepted.Shot him with a roundball over 70 grains of ffg pyrodex.Had a very good blood trail and no problem finding him.Will post pics when I get home later tonight.

    Will it hurt to leave the gun loaded for a few days or is there salts in it that will corrode the barrel?
