    question on the lyman GPR

I got the same gun. Sight it in on bullseye at 13 yards and it should be right on at 100. Least thats what I found using 60 grains of FFF Pioneer powder. The guy I bought my gun from put full adjustable rear sight on. I love it and recommend it. So easy to turn a screw. For adjustment you move...

    Ted Cash Curved pistol capper

I found that keeping the capper filled 90 percent and playing with the spring steel jaws at the front it's working a little better now. Gonna keep it and continue to tweek the jaws as needed.

    GPR used

:) WOW....It was dead on at 13 yards with my first shot dead center. At 100 yards I was grouped in about a 10"circle (3 shot group). I was using Pioneer FFFG powder, 60 grains, .020 cabelas prelubed patch which took ALL my strength to seat at the muzzle and was too tight to ram home with a...

    GPR used

 Well I bought it for 325 bucks. He threw in a nice silicone storage sleeve. It has a few scratches on the barrell. But the bore is like brand new! Nice and shinny! He did keep it well. I looked at mail order but I can't get one shipped to New Jersey without going through a bunch of riger...

    GPR used

The reason I was inclined to go 350 instead of 325 is this guy is really good to his guns. I bought a browning auto 5 belgian from him several years ago and still can't believe the condition it was in and the price he gave me on it. I did not want for the sake of 25 bucks to insult the man. I...

    GPR used

I guy I work with will sell me his Lyman GPR with doub set triggers and 1 in 60 twist for 325 bucks. When I heard he kept it in a silicone gun sock for 17 years and only fired it 30 shots I told him Id give him 350.00 bucks. He mentioned he had the rear sight moved forward about 4-5 inches...

    Pioneer fffg loads

Great minds think alike....I was in Cabelas when this woman...Charlot I believe was her name told me about DIXONS. Great store! Bought a bunch of stuff there....patch knives, patchs, powder horn, Famous capper! etc. I can see me going there a lot!

    Pioneer fffg loads

Yeah it's a new WMA the state bought like 2 years ago or so. Like 650 acres surrounded by houses at all road accesses. They did put a drive in lane in with parking for about 5 vehicles. Deer are scarce due to pressure from so manny visitors. I'm sure it will cool down again when everyone and...

Mike I am west of you....Belvidere/Washington area. I have farm country all around and the new Buckhorn springs tract is right behind my house. I have been going to Spruce run's range off of Rt78 so as not to rile the neighboors!

    Ted Cash Curved pistol capper

This is what I love about this forum! I thought something must be wrong with either the capper or the caps. I can't imagine anone paying 26 bucks to be aggravated. I checked the pin in the lid and it is through the cover seated right. I am using Remington caps that say 40% hotter and they are...

    Load quantity help with Pioneer..

Wow...blow the hammer back? NO it felt fine seemed to pattern consistantly too. I also felt the recoil was decent...less than say shooting 12 gauge slugs.

    Ted Cash Curved pistol capper

I was thinking of a paper linner. Then thought maybe it would hold moisture. I'll have to experiment. I'm using Remmington #11's. I'm a little disapointed its not reliably feeding correctly for the 26 bucks it cost me. I guess its gonna be finniky. Often times the cap is side ways in the feed...

    Pioneer fffg loads

Next time out I'm gonna try squeezin the patch as dry as I can and see if its any cleaner. I have very little experience with muzzle loaders but initialy....I'm impressed with the Pioneer. It lights reliably....no lag time really. Of course thats probably cause I'm using FFFG! Patterns...

    Ted Cash Curved pistol capper

I bought a Ted Cash Brass capper for #11 percussion caps. I thought this would work better than it has. Seems the caps are dispensed upside down often. Sometimes sideways. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a Tune up trick I am missing or did I goof not getting a spring loaded in line capper...

    Load quantity help with Pioneer..

I have a Cabelas Traditional Hawken in 50 cal. made by Investarms. In the booklet they call for 90gr g-ffg or 70 gr g-fffg. This is for .49 patched round ball. I was mistakenly loading 80gr of Pioneer FFFG. See I thought I had FFG and never realized it was FFFG! Dumb...I know. So I did some...

    Pioneer fffg loads

I am using Pioneer FFFG (1st can of powder) I havent tried anything else yet. Realize I should be using FFG but thats what came with the gun at Christmas. Pioneer states you should use a dry patch("use no lube"). I have pre lubed OX-Yoke wonder ticking 1000 plus patches in .018 And Cabelas...

    New member from New Jersey

I figured it would be a most excellent idea to join your forum seein as how I rammed a cleaning jag down my 14 year old son's christmas present's barrel after 4 shots and got the cleaning jag stuck! Then broke the ram rod. Discovered that old oily tee shirt makes a poor cleaning patch. And...
