    No homebrewers?

Of course at the time hops weren't the only herbs used in beer.

    No homebrewers?

Nice setup there I'm still using the old cooler setup for my mash-tun. It would be great to see a period recipe.

    No homebrewers?

ç±³ is pronounced "kome" it means rice... (still busy looking up the kanji for koji...)

It's actually 200 gallons per household IF there are at least 2 people of legal age in the household otherwise it's 100 gallons.

Well ideally I would go period correct but I'm pretty sure I'd get lost in all the requirements...

    No homebrewers?

Well I'll start since no one else is biting. Brewing is pretty easy actually. My favourite hard cider I've ever tried was the first batch I ever made. All I did was take a gallon of fresh juiced apples and added a packet of plain brewers yeast bottled in one month let age as long as possible...

    No homebrewers?

I'd love to see some of the period recipes for all of the above (add cider and we've got a lot of good beverages you can brew (in camp if it lasts long enough)).

    No homebrewers?

    sour dough

Actually one of my favourite sourdough starters came about because I had decided I wanted to make sourdough and my friend hadn't resuscitated his refrigerated starter yet and I happened to have a spare packer of Safbrew S-33 so I tossed that in some flour and water sadly I killed it and haven't...

I would think the shipping on lead would be rather expensive...

    How critical is patch size?

I guess that depends on how much excess oxygen there is when burning black powder. As long as isn't going to make the gun explode I'd say try it just for giggles.

    How critical is patch size?

If I'm not mistaken silk is technically stronger (by cross-sectional area) than cotton. The damage caused by the heavy handed sewing methods would be opening up the weave on the fabric not actual tearing (the difference being that due to the small size of the silk fibers you get many more...

I guess I have 2 decisions here #1 is kit or build my own kit and #2 is where to buy my stuff from.

If it wasn't the experience of a muzzleloader I was after I would walk down to the gun store and buy myself a nice 30-06 (and they're about the same price if not cheaper). To me the building of the rifle would be an experience in and of itself making it that much more valuable to me. The...

Well Sierra Gun Supply (a shop about 30min from my house) seems to carry black powder (and if I'm not mistaken a couple of muzzleloaders)
