Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" or antiquing a 1860 Army Uberti

Always found it a bit funny with the fake aging on the Cimarron guns, if you are reenacting or in that time period wouldn’t your gun look relatively new? :)

What caliber and style for you?

I'm not a fan of the big blunt buttstocks on some of the Kibler's or rifles like them. I prefer much more slender lines. The Kibler southern mountain rifle for example is closer to my liking and much more like my Pedersoli Frontiers. Just my opinion.

Flintlock or percussion for a first purchase?

I have both. Pedersoli Frontier flintlock and percussion. Both great fun, both good shooters. I shoot the caplock better than the flint but starting to figure out the flint. Takes time.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot my Frontier flintlock again this morning, that's 3 days in a row and finally got the Schuetzen powder figured out. My rifle likes 70 grains 3fg in this powder, with a .480 ball, .010 patch. Hitting 50 and 75 yds consistently off hand today. 8" to 10" steel targets. Made 'em ring many times...

Shot my flintlock yesterday, today and will shoot it tomorrow. :)

I changed stuff up today and got good Schuetzen results at 50-75 yds off hand with 70 grains of 3fg, a 480 ball and 010 patch. I’ll shoot that again tomorrow and see how it goes. Seemed to be a formula my flinter liked.

I tried my hand at Schuetzen powder again this morning. I changed up a few things: .480 ball instead of .490, 60 grains powder instead of 50, .015 patch instead of .010. Better results, hit steel at 50 yds off hand a few times. In all fairness it's not the powder, as most of you likely guessed...
