    WITHDRAWN M1855 Rifle Musket

I have this original M1855 rifle musket. It was made at Springfield Arsenal in 1860. Both the lock and the breech are dated 1860. Springfield made about 8,000 the year it was made. The barrel also has the correct eagle and VP marks. Rifle has the correct M1858 rear sight. All parts are original...

    1766...

It does appear to be French, but without more French markings, it could be American from 1795 on. If it was French I'd say it was made with the improvements implemented to the Model 1763 muskets starting in 1768. Hard to say. The stock looks to be in very good condition. This was made before...

    1861 US Springfield ?

M1861s made by Springfield, and not a contract maker are getting hard to find. Look at the top of the barrel near the breechplug and see if you can make out a date of 1861 there as well. A Springfield made in 1861 would have been rushed into service and assuredly was used in combat. It would be...

    Help Id this old gunstock.

My guess, English single barreled shotgun. Should be a fun project

    Help with a water,s smoothbore.

Interesting. The lock doesn't look like a military pattern, so I'd go with a more civilian pattern stock. How about the barrel? Is it military in style or bore?

    Original 1863 Springfield Musket

The 441 might be a post war arsenal marking, probably had nothing to do with the war. The date on the lockplate, should match the one on the barrel. Like others mentioned, without specific markings, you'd just have to be happy with knowledge that the gun was made during the civil war, and...

FOR SALE Sharps M1859 Carbine, cal .54/.52 (updated 14MAY23)

Does it have a patchbox? I believe M1859 had an iron patchbox. On the barrel it might say New Model 1859 or New Model 1863. I think they dropped the patchbox on M1863's. Cool piece of history

    Got this 1842 Springfield

I doesnt seem like a bad deal. I'm guessing it's a parts gun. If you have the original barrel it should have the same date as the lock, and the Springfield eagle and vp, like what's on the Whitacre barrel. The stock looks like mint condition, so I'm guessing that's a replacement. maybe a N-SSA...

    Blunderbuss identification

That barrel seems rough for a British piece. The cock is funky too, something doesn't seem right. What is that under the lock, looks like metal wire or a sling swivel that is unattached? That's the fun with these guns, solving the questions! Greg

    WANTED Confederate D Guard Bowie

I received the knife from Dan99 yesterday. He did an excellent job of capturing a early war Confederate D Guard Bowie. I believe the blade is 18" with an overall length of about 23". Spine if the blade is around 3/16"-1/4". I gave Dan99 a pic with all the dimensions from an original, and he...

    WANTED 1836

I don't think the price is bad, but the hammer has different patina than the lock plate, so check to see if it's been reconverted from percussion, or if the hammer was replaced. That could effect the value. The rammer is not the original trumpet one that it should have as well. Not a biggie...

    1861 tower enfield

The circle mark above the butt plate tang is usually in the area where Confederate inspection marks were. It's faint but looks like it was there. It would mean the rifle may have been a apart of a Confederate purchase, but doesn't mean it was used here by Confederates. I'd look into that more...

    1861 tower enfield

It looks like when it was proofed it was .58 with those "24" stamps. Parchbox looks like something off a New England rifle. Still has three groove rifling it looks like. Sure it's .54? Agree maybe a vet took it home and dressed it up after the war.

    WANTED Confederate D Guard Bowie

Dan99, https://collegehillarsenal.com/Confederate-Georgia-Arsenal-Type-I-Bowie-Knife Here is what I'm would like, as close as I can get at least. These things are comically huge, but a true part of our Civil War heritage. How much would something like this be to produce? Like everyone things...

    WANTED Confederate D Guard Bowie

I looked at that one too. I'm looking for one of these early war huge Bowie you see the soldiers getting there pictures taken with. Most were probably thrown to the roadside as they realized after long marches, they weren't worth carrying around. Thank you though.
