Picked this 1842 Springfield stamped 1852 at a local garage sale for $750, don't know if i paid too much, what you guys think?
the one on the side is original, the one on the musket is replacement. Previous owner told me that replacement barrel alone was $600 which correlates with pricing on Whitacre's.Is the original barrel the one laying beside the gun? The logo on the left flat of the barrel in the gun makes me suspect that's a Whitacre barrel.

Interesting maybe I should join N-SAAI doesnt seem like a bad deal. I'm guessing it's a parts gun. If you have the original barrel it should have the same date as the lock, and the Springfield eagle and vp, like what's on the Whitacre barrel. The stock looks like mint condition, so I'm guessing that's a replacement. maybe a N-SSA shooter owned it?, Either way some original parts, and some quality modern parts, I still think you did good.
Yes you should.Interesting maybe I should join N-SAA
