    Jim Klien stains

Alright gentlemen, one more question. With the Klien stains, is it better to hand rub the stain into the wood or brush it on like other stains? Just want to get this one right. Should look pretty good for a $50 garage sale find when its finished.

    Jim Klien stains

Thanks for the quick replies. I think I might still have some denatured alcohol around here some where. Wow, love the color of your stock. I have a bunch of steel wool, I guess I'll just have to get started and see what happens.

    Jim Klien stains

I just ordered some dangler stains from the Log Cabin shop. I was wondering if I needed a thinner or reducer like I did on LMF stains. I'm sure someone on here has the answer to this kind of silly question. You guys have answered a few harder ones for me. If I do need a thinner, what would...

    Pedersoli Problem

I'm almost positive its the right size nosecap. The stock to barrel fit is almost perfect. I might try heating it and bending it. I guess my only other option is to order a new one from VTI. I'll have to look around for a replacement. Remy

    Pedersoli Problem

I need a little help guys. I just picked up a new to me Pedersoli Kentucky Rifle. Its a .50 with a great bore but the wood needs some work. I have a problem with the fit of the nosecap. I have a loose fit around the barrel with 1/16 gap on both sides. The brass is pretty thick (1/4in at its...

    Tru-Oil and inlays

I was planning on finishing to a high gloss. I have some worn denim somewhere around here. Are there any fabrics that might be better? Remy

    Tru-Oil and inlays

Thanks Zonie, I was hoping you'd chime in. Would denim be coarse enough to fair the edges? I think I have some burlap stashed away too. Remy

    Tru-Oil and inlays

Well I just ordered a few brass inlays from TOTW. It's going to be my first attempt at doing some inlays. I'd like to finish the stock with Tru-Oil when I'm done inlaying and staining. I read one of Zonie's old posts about taping over the brass before rubbing in the finish. I plan to do a...

    Help with CVA lock

Wow Mule, love the color. What stain did you use? It's exactly the color I'd like to stain this one after I get it cleaned up. Also if you dont mind sharing your secret, how did you do the striping? It it came out great. Did you antique the brass or give it good polish? Remy

    Help with CVA lock

Well, I just ordered a lock parts set for it. I cost more than the rifle but it gives me a reason to work on another CVA in the future. Gonna be a while though. I picked up a used Pedersoli Kentuck for $199 last week. The barrel looked good, no rust that I could see. The stock needs some...

    Help with CVA lock

I just came across one of the cva Kentucky kit rifles. The past owner did a pretty good job on the assembly and finish. I couldnt beat the deal($25). The owner couldnt get the rifle to fire and actually asked me to buy it and get it fixed. Said he hated to see a nice rifle collecting dust. I...
