    Unloading a muzzleloader question

I pick a stump or log or tree knot or such and shoot it out. If no viable targets I shoot the ground. I always like to hunt with a fresh load. It only takes a few minutes to clean anywho.

advantages for using an over powder card

The only reason I use it is I had a coned 40 that was pure joy to load. Rice bbls shoot very good coned. I let that one go - old story shoud've kept it. I now shoot a 40 and 54 getz bbl'd rifles that are not coned. They will shoot as good with thin patches and wadding as a tight patch. I really...

advantages for using an over powder card

Try it and see if it works. I use a felt in my 54 for an easier loading combo and it works as intended. Lets me use a little thinner patch.

    Next rifle--.32,36,40???

There are a lot of 40 cal questions on various sites over the years. Almost without exception all the negatives come from people who have never owned one or fired one. Anyone who spent time with a 40 will soon discover why some stick with it when they have tried it. I had quit sticking up for it...

    Next rifle--.32,36,40???

Budget is everything. Small budget = factory 32 or 36 Italian or TC and such Larger = Pick a school and go A wgt 40 Even a swamped 44" is nice and light if made right. Bucks Co. rifles are very trim if made right. I'm partial to 40's and 54's they'll cover everthing I want to do.

    Mowery??

I picked up a finished 12ga and an unfinished rifle kit. Going to be my next step closer to doing a kit in full. Have refinished a few guns and now will go a little deeper into the pool this time - If I can do even an OK job I may have the nads to make a go at one from scratch. I guess it's...
