    T/C Hawken carbine?

There was a 24" barrelled Hawken for sale on Track of the Wolf not long ago. I had never heard of one prior to that.

Novice Guide to Round Ball Casting...

How long do you allow the balls to cool before you release them from the mould?

Need a local gunsmith to bore out a barrel for me.

Do you know of a gunsmith or gunbuilder from somewhere around Monterey? I need a dovetail cut into a barrel to install a fixed sight and I don't trust myself to do it.

Stupid Question/Poll about REAL Black Powder Sales

Barely, it's 45 miles to the nearest black powder. I had to go there the other day because I'd ran out of #11 caps. All the closer stores were out 'til muzzleloader season rolls around again.

Where have all the 40's gone?

    I've got a Green Mountain 38" .40 caliber barrel on a T/C Renegade that I use for over-the-log shooting.

    Green Mountain Barrel Drop In

The 1" barrels won't work if the Hawken is 15/16".

    Green Mountain Barrel Drop In

I got mine from Track of the Wolf. What caliber do you want to get, you may have several different twists to choose from depending on that?

    Range time...

I attended the Alvin C. York Memorial Shoot yesterday and inspired by the goings-on did some over the log shooting this afternoon with a Cabela's Hawken I bought a couple of weeks back.

Sighting in new GM Barrel-Brady, Texas style

WARNING: IF THE TERMS "BORE SIZED BALLS" OR "PATCH KNIFE" OR "SHORT STARTER" OR "SWABBING BETWEEN SHOTS" MAKE YOU SQUEAMISH, DO NOT PROCEED. From the looks of things at the Alvin C. York Memorial Match today, you would have fit in perfectly.

    What kind of muzzleloader

A T/C Renegade .54 and a Lyman Plains Pistol .54. I got a Cabelas Hawken .50 a few days ago but haven't got around to shooting it yet.

    Something odd happened

Something along those lines happened to me once with a brand new Lyman Plains Pistol. It had fired the first 5 times with no problems, but then on the sixth, it didn't go off. I popped 5 or 6 caps and no boom. I got out my ball puller and pulled out the ball and for some reason or another there...

    Cabela's rifle

Is that the Hawken model? I bought one at a gun show over the weekend for $40. The previous owner had painted the whole rifle camouflage, :youcrazy: but the bore was perfect.

    Suggestions for a short rifle?

Sounds like you need a Lyman Deerstalker instead of the GPR.
